Sylvia Hinz is a Berlin-based media artist and internationally acclaimed performer of contemporary music. She explores the sonic and visual possibilities of recorders, from soprano to sub-contrabass, combined with experimental sound design on synthesizers and video art.
Renowned for her intense and dramatic stage presence, she is among the leading recorder players worldwide, specializing in contemporary music, improvisation, and the creation of new works. She studied at the Berlin University of the Arts with Gerd Lünenbürger and Dieter Schnebel, among others.
Hinz performs solo and with ensembles, leads workshops, and pursues cross-disciplinary collaborations under the theme #ArtAsActivism.
